This workshop was another milestone towards strengthening Pakistan’s commitment to ecological conservation and sustainable forestry.
Aim to plant hope, protect biodiversity, and leave a legacy of green for generations to come.
me as as a Panel Expert/Discussion Speaker at Conference on Enhancing Forest Cover, Representing the Agri Tourism Development Corporation of Pakistan as CEO & Founder, I shared my vision for the next 10 years, focusing especially on engaging the youth of Pakistan to play a leading role in increasing our country’s green cover and promoting sustainable forestry.
It was a privilege to share the stage alongside Respected leaders including Mr. Mahmood Akhtar Cheema (Country Representative, IUCN Pakistan), Mr. Asim Jamal (IUCN), Mr. Mudassir Malik (Secretary Forests Punjab), and Mr. Azfar Zia (Director General Forests Punjab), whose leadership is shaping a greener tomorrow.
I would also like to sincerely thank my dear friends and colleagues Khawaja Mazhar, Dr. Imran Lodhi, Zahid Mahmood, Umar Kiani, Niaz Muhammad, Nawaz Sandella, Imran Sattar, and Saeed Tabasam and so many names other than these — for sharing inspiring discussions during the conference.
This conference served as a milestone in bringing together experts, policymakers, and visionaries to develop strong strategies for increasing the forest cover of Punjab and ensuring a healthier environment for generations to come.
About my vision must involve communities and youth in such a way that their livelihoods are directly connected with the life of trees — not with their destruction.
Here i share you my Speech Note for Youth Address in Conference.
It is a great honor to speak today on the vision for the next 10 years. I want to especially address our youth — because the future of Pakistan’s forests and green economy lies in your hands.
Forests are not just about trees; they are full of opportunities. If we develop a Forest Business Incubation Center — a Green Business Hub or Forestpreneur Hub — we can create new startups that protect nature while creating jobs and income.
Imagine the possibilities:
Cultivating herbal and medicinal plants, producing organic honey, herbal cosmetics , mushroom farming.
Developing eco-tourism — treehouses, camping, bird watching, seasonal forest festivals & National days of forest.
Adding value — for value addition products making essential oils, herbal cosmetics, bamboo crafts, compost with leave for cultivation,forest-based foods and their brands
Launching climate businesses — nurseries, carbon credits, and green certifications.
Even using technology — apps for forest tourism, drones to monitor trees, carbon calculators.
And for learning — forest schools for kids, wellness tourism/wellness retreats, yoga and meditation in nature.
This incubation center will be a training hub, with shared facilities for herbs, honey, oils, and eco-packaging. It will link entrepreneurs with banks, investors, NGOs, and markets — helping them sell under one forest brand.
Through this, we will raise a new generation of ‘Forestpreneurs’ — young people who combine business with conservation. This will increase Pakistan’s green cover, strengthen our economy, reduce poverty, and give us a place in global carbon and eco-tourism markets.
So my message to youth is simple: Don’t just look for jobs — become green entrepreneurs. The forests of Pakistan are waiting for you. Together, let us build a greener, stronger, and more sustainable Pakistan.
Best regards
Tariq Tanveer CEO Agri Tourism Development Corporation of Pakistan.
